About Alexandria Legacy Lodging Program
Our Mission
The Alexandria Legacy Lodging Program, based in Scottsdale, Arizona, is a charitable initiative created in partnership with HonorHealth Scottsdale Healthcare Foundation and (Insert Hotel Name Here). Its purpose is to support families with infants in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at HonorHealth Scottsdale Shea Medical Center by providing accommodations during their stay, especially for those facing financial hardships.
Donations to this program directly fund lodging for these families, alleviating the burden of travel and ensuring they can focus on their child's care. Contributions can be sent to the HonorHealth Scottsdale Healthcare Foundation.
Our Story
In the summer of 2011, Andrea and her family were eagerly awaiting the arrival of their twin girls! Their journey through childbirth was complicated and on August 12, they welcomed Alexandria and Kensington born premature at 31 weeks. Kensington weighed close to three pounds, while Alexandria weighed just over one pound. The twins, along with their parents, spent several months in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at HonorHealth Shea Medical Center. During that time, Andrea bonded not only with her daughters, but also with the staff. Because of her small size, Alexandria stayed longer than her sister, almost three months in the NICU. Sadly, just a few days after leaving the hospital, Alexandria unexpectedly passed away.
“Even though our daughter was with us for only 87 days, we knew that she would always be a part of our family and in our hearts,” said Andrea. “After our loss, we started a new mission to help others who one day would be in the same situation as our family. That’s when we came up with the idea of the Alexandria Legacy Lodging program.”
